fzrtim Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Finally got my fzr 4/6 to run with no clutch problems and managed to see what the motor is doing. As the engine is a completely standard 95 fz600r motor (bar k&n filter and race pipes) i have decided to have a little bit of fettling done over the winter period to find a few more horses. Can anyone recommend a tuner to carry out gas flow ect, or does anyone know the most effective route to maximise power gain without comprimising reliability. Cheers Tim
Evilchicken0 Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 hey Tim whatsuuuuuuuup Cubes matey. Vs money. I reckon any of the usual suspects for tuning although I'd probably favour Holeshot out of blind predudice. But basically head gas flowing and a big bore kit, I think they're about 660cc. However this will cost some bucks. Try looking for a Steel Frame 600 racing site, they'll use the foxeye engine. There was the guy who was looking at using the FZR600 crank and big bore in this engine to get a 720, I know it's been done but don't know how much it cost.
crasher76 Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Back in the 90's PB tuned a CBR6 and FZR foxey (Hargreeves and ??) the Sonex painted FZR was big bored with a TTS kit, smoked like a beast and wasn't a good mod for that particular engine. Search ebay for some old PB mags and you should get an idea of what was involved.

Holeshot do a bigbore kit but it costs a lot of cash. Just want to squeeze a bit more power out the engine without making it unreliable. Thinking of having the head gas flowed, race cams ect. Also if i mate the 600r top end to the older fzr motor, the longer stroke of the earlier motor will increase cc to 660 giving a lot more midrange torque.

My mate bought that CBR of Mark Forsyth. Fuckin' brilliant bike untill I rode it into the front of a Mondeo really fast (daft american on the wrong side of the road). It was shit after that mainly becasue it was in about a million pieces. Mark at M&M Motorcycles is well into engine tuning (mainly R1's). Having met the fella a few times, I suspect he's forgotten more about making Yamaha's go really fast than I'll ever know. He's also a regular on this very forum. Well worth a call if you ask me. I've got his number if you want to PM me for it.
