Evilchicken0 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I want a tool to ballance the carbs. Now I saw a little gizmo that measures the air flow it looks a bit like a mini hair dryer ... but I can't remember who makes them or the right name Hmmm they were on ebay for about £30-35 Suggestions please
tootall Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...p;pcode=BIKVGA2 Nice set of vacuum guages is what you want. ( alright, these aren't actually nice ones, but they're cheap.)
ronenige Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I've got these at home , bit pricier but if you go halves with a mate ( or charge them !) they will probably work out better http://www.carbtune.com/
Evilchicken0 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 Well done ... close but no cigar. The thing with gauges is that you need to connect them up, if you use a flow meter you don't have to bother with all that.

Here you go, one tube, one carb at a time http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...5058225ffe1fdae

Highly recommend it!
Evilchicken0 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 Ok, I'm confused. How do you balance one carb at a time? What do you balance each one against? You take a reading on one carb then adjust the second to it, then the third then the fourth ... depending on how many carbs you have of course
VeeTeeArr Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 My dad always tuned his carbs by ear. He would hold a length of tube to his ear and place t'other end in the carb mouth and compare it with the next carb along and adjust it accordingly

I've tried it and you can do it, but you must make sure that the tube is held in the same place on each carb. It takes a bit of fiddling about at first but once you get the hang of it it's pretty simple!
