Tom Mac Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Got this TDR250 the other week, Second time I've owned it, but its a little more complete ths time I've got a few ideas for it, but I want to keep it useable for awhile so a complete stripdown to sort out the rusty frame can wait awhile. I'm half way thorugh fitting some new decals to it, my first attempt and combined with GRP panels that aren't perfect means that there a few minor marks and mistakes but I'm pleased with the result so far.
Ringding Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Looks good Tom. Keep us updated. Always liked TDR's but never got round to owning one.
ChrisH Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 mmmmmm....TDR Looks like some serious rubber on that - the previous owner didn't did they? Off-road?
Tom Mac Posted October 16, 2008 Author Report Posted October 16, 2008 mmmmmm....TDR Looks like some serious rubber on that - the previous owner didn't did they? Off-road? it was used as an off road bike by a bloke up in aryshire, I've got a pic of it when I bought it the first time, will dig it out and post it up piccy found: shown as bought, it lived on the trailer for a few weeks until i sold it to reservoir cogs so I could buy a roadworthy one boths wheels were buckled, missing bodywork, holed exhausts, etc but it had a V5, the numbers all matched and it was pretty cheap got a few more bits on order for it (hopefully picking them up saturday), a mate is donating a set of unwanted Bt45s for it so it could be on the road very soon (it is currently Moted but the rear tyre is bald in the middle) Edited to add piccy and ramblings
Tom Mac Posted October 18, 2008 Author Report Posted October 18, 2008 Changed a few rusty bolts today and fitted some handgaurds so its pic whoring time:
johnnymack63 Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 I used to have one just like that when I was 19. I rode it to the IOM TT in 1991 with a mate who had a KR-1. Brilliant bike. In fact, reading this thread and looking at the pics has go me thinking about looking for a yellow and black TDR to do up. V jealous
ml1275 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 The last thing you want is a black 'un!! ........................Thats more like it ML
Tom Mac Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 ahh the good old black versus blue arguement ......................
fletchndebs Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 You dont want a black or blue one.... You want a white one
Tom Mac Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 Hmmm now where have i seen that before anyway, its confession time. I actually have a blue one as well as the black one and have decided that one has to go and the black one lost the coin toss.
2Smoke Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Hmmm now where have i seen that before anyway, its confession time. Tom Mac Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 what sort of money do tdrs go for ? Roughly: £200 for a basket case/project ~£2,500 for a Mint one
mgtkr1 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 the original supermoto, when supermotos were powered by a proper 2 stroke, none of this husaberg tripe!! this bike was aimed at the next generation elsie owner without a doubt!! cant imagine many tdr's been sold to policeman etc. these bikes make you misbehave much like any stroker, this even more so for obvious reasons!!its no good for the rough stuff, not as race orientated as a tzr but still has bags more attitude and i bet its more fun!!! they look the bollox with wider spoked wheesl in supermoto sizes with lomas pipes and a braced swingarm. black or blue? any as long as its a std paint design. i remember seeing one as a nipper in blue so that would be my personal favourite. theres some really smart tdr's about, one of the best ive seen is a blue un with black wheels nabbed of a cagiva mito based (engine/wheels etc) supermoto thing.
2Smoke Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 I love mine, its superb! When I bought it last year for £250.. 1 owner from new, rough but not abused! slightly cleaner on a trackday
Yatsushiro Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 It has to be White... Until next year, at least!
Yatsushiro Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 one of the best ive seen is a blue un with black wheels nabbed of a cagiva mito based (engine/wheels etc) supermoto thing. Like this one ? Unfortunately I had to sell this one to fund the race TDR
dougb Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 still got both mine...and in the right colours ! great fun !!!!
Martin77 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 It has to be White... Until next year, at least! Oh no, you're not going blue are you? .........I'll have to think about withdrawing my support.....
Tom Mac Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 errr.... wide enough for sticky tyres from memory the front's a 120 and the rear is a 150
2Smoke Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Very nice. Would love a pair for mine so the tzr could have its wheels back hehe
brad Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I like Yellow myself... Very nice that indeed, quite fancying a TDR myself at the mo', i miss the buzz of riding a 2 stroke!!
SHimmer45 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 love the TDR's shame they dont make an alternative these days........................... o i forget having fun is banned
Jenny Pryde Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I'm going to return my TDR to standard colours. However, I can't make my mind up. Black or blue?
