Zakalwe Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Anyone able to recommend a good powdercoater (preferably in the NorthWest)? I want to get the wheels on my Blade powdercoated.
pirks Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Anyone able to recommend a good powdercoater (preferably in the NorthWest)? I want to get the wheels on my Blade powdercoated. F&M powdercoating. Roman way, Red scar industrial estate Preston. Lancs. 01772 700414 Ive used them a few times and there work seems to be good, they do a lot of bike parts
lorenzo Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Drop them down to me, with the bearings and tyres removed first, I'm having a pair for my kat done in about a months time. Tend to work out at about £60 a pair, might be £50 a pair if I take 2 pairs in at once. I'm in manc/stockport.
lorenzo Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 A place not far from me, manchester rust proofing I think they're called. I've had my last 2 or 3 sets of wheels done there, plus a few other bits and bobs, subframes etc. They're pretty good, they're quite cheap, and they susally have your stuff done within 2 or 3 days, which is nice. What colour are you going for?
Hendo Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 I use Triple S in Bingley, near Bradford. They are quite expensive but the quality is impeccable. There are places near me that do powdercoating. But I choose to do the 210mile round trip to Triple S with parts because they are that good. http://www.triple-s.co.uk/ Andy
lorenzo Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 If it's a specific colour you're after, take the mudguard off or something and bring it along (providing the mudguard's orange!), then they can hold it up against their charts and go from there. They do a nice line in satin black too, that seems to go with anything.

I'd be up for this as I need the NC30's wheels done but would struggle with removing the bearings and tyres first as Im shi** with a spanner
lorenzo Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Well, I'll be able to manage the bearings on the back wheel of your NC30.... Seriously, I could dink the front ones out for you, but you'd need new ones afterwards as I'm a little bit less than delicate. Tyres you'll need to take somewhere that's better than me. I suppose I could take them to the same place as I get my tyres taken on/off, but they tend to charge a fiver per wheel per visit. The other thing is that if I'm taking some sort of bulk delivery down to them, loads of wheel, all in different colours, and if the colours are quite specific, then I'm not sure if I fancy the responsibility to be honest. I've only ever used them for satin black and gloss white, and they've been spot on, but I'm not keen on dropping off a load of peoples stuff if they need to accuratley match another colour as I don't know how good they are at it and I don't want somebody to be pissed off with me because this firm did things a bit too dark etc. Having said that, I don't mind taking a load of wheels in with me, just the dropping them off etc is no problem at all. Be warned that i work shifts and some quite unpredictable hours so actually getting them to me and collecting them from me may be slightly tricky.

If you can let me have the phone number I'll get them down there over the winter. I'm only at the other end of the M62. Cheers
lorenzo Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 OK, here's the easy way. Their number's 0161 4808341 and they're in Reddish, on the edge of Stockport, hidden at the back of an industrial estate. The bloke who you deal with (even though it's a different one each time) will have a completely covered face, except for where his goggles were, and he'll look like the bloke on pheonix nights who went through the whole series with a tiger painted on his face. I would laugh it it wasn't for the fact that I'd come back and find my wheels had been done in pastel pink or something.
