intra Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Does anyone know if the dimensions (as in physical size) of an XR400 engine are similar to that of an XR250? I'm thinking about putting a 400 engine in my XR250 supermoto commuter and I'm down with making new engine mounts, just not large scale re-working. Ie, if it's too big a job it may be easier just to get an unregistered 400 and restamp it with the engine and frame no's of my 250. Cheers.

monty_zac Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 this sounds slightly illegal But who would know?
dave69 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 when you have binned the bike and someone gets critically injured and the bike gets inspected for cause of accident etc
chancho196 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 But who would know? Anyone who looks at the restamped frame number would know! It'll never look right. To be honest, I don't think you'll get much benefit by swapping motors. Neither of them are very swift. A mate of mine has the 250 with a 280 kit in it and it was pretty much on a par with the 400's. Get a WR or something if you want decent power.
